YOUTH GROUP READY

TO KICK OFF New Year

From Don LaRue

Change is in the air with this year’s Youth Program.  First, the youth room has been redesigned.  The changes made allow for more space with and expanded seating area.  In addition, the room is now compatible to show all forms of multimedia without the import of extra wiring and equipment.  Come check it out when you get a chance.

Perhaps the biggest change of all is the movement of youth group to Thursday nights.  This has been done intentionally to prevent new youth invitees from being intimidated by the formalities of attending evening worship.   The student leaders of the group (SLT’s) will now meet on Sunday nights with the expectation of attending evening worship.  The group as a whole will be learning the basics of Reformed faith by focusing each week on a question from the Heidelberg Confession.

Looking ahead into the fall, the youth group will be seeing their favorite band, “Index Patient” at the end of September,  testing their engineering skills in a pumpkin chucking contest,  and have their annual lock-in around Halloween.  There is talk of joining the area’s church basketball league.  We have the youth, however, we are in need of a coach.  If interested, please let the church know.  As always, we are in need of helpers to assist in transport and mentoring of youth.  If God is calling you to such a task, please contact Don LaRue.
